Survival of the Fittest: Evolution Mechanics

In Vampire Survivors, the only way to survive the 30-minute mark (and kill the Red Death) is by evolving your weapons. An evolved weapon deals massively more damage, often gains new properties (like lifesteal or infinite pierce), and looks spectacular.

💡 How to Evolve Weapons

1. Level up a Weapon to Level 8 (Max).

2. Have at least one level of the required Passive Item in your inventory.

3. Pick up a Treasure Chest dropped by a boss/elite enemy after the 10-minute mark.

Types of Evolutions

Standard Evolution: Requires 1 Weapon (Lvl 8) + 1 Passive. The Passive is not consumed; you keep it.
Union: Requires 2 specific Weapons (both Lvl 8). These merge into one slot, freeing up a weapon slot for more power. Example: Peachone + Ebony Wings = Vandalier.
Gift Evolution: Requires a weapon and a special pickup (like a Chest or Stage Item).

Top Tier Evolutions (Meta)

If you are struggling to clear a stage, aim for these:

Unholy Vespers (King Bible + Spellbinder): Creates a permanent shielding circle around you. Essential for defense.
La Borra (Santa Water + Attractorb): Zones enemies with massive AoE puddles that follow you. Highest DPS in the base game.
Infinite Corridor (Clock Lancet + Rings): The only weapon capable of halving an enemy's HP. Required to kill the Reaper.

Can I evolve multiple weapons? +

Yes! You should aim to evolve all 6 of your weapons. This calculator helps you plan the 6 passives needed to match your 6 weapons perfectly.

Do unions free up a slot? +

Yes. When you unite two birds into Vandalier, you regain one Weapon Slot. However, you do not regain the Passive Slot used for standard evolutions.
