    How to Convert Sweeteners Properly

Swapping sugar for honey, maple syrup, or keto alternatives like Erythritol isn't just about sweetness—it's about chemistry. Liquid sweeteners add moisture, while some sugar alcohols have a "cooling" effect. This calculator adjusts for sweetness levels to ensure your recipe tastes right.

    Common Baking Conversions

    • Honey to Sugar: Honey is sweeter than sugar. Use 3/4 cup of honey for every 1 cup of sugar, and reduce liquid in the recipe by 1/4 cup.
    • Erythritol to Sugar: Erythritol is only about 70% as sweet as sugar. You typically need 1.3 cups of Erythritol to replace 1 cup of sugar.
    • Stevia Blends: Most "baking blends" are formulated to be a 1:1 swap, but pure Stevia is potent and requires microscopic amounts.

    Glycemic Index (GI) Guide

The Glycemic Index measures how much a food spikes your blood sugar. White Sugar (GI 65) causes rapid spikes. Agave (GI 15) is lower but high in fructose. Erythritol and Stevia (GI 0) have no impact on blood glucose, making them ideal for diabetics and keto diets.
