Optimizing Your Journey as the Spiritfarer
In Spiritfarer, managing Stella's time is just as important as gathering resources. The ship travels in real-time, meaning long journeys across the map require careful planning. Efficient players will use travel time to tend to crops, cook meals, and craft materials at the Sawmill or Loom.
The Impact of Ship Upgrades
Your initial boat is painfully slow, but upgrading the engine at Albert's Shipyard drastically reduces travel times. The basic engine upgrades provide a flat boost to your travel speed multiplier. Specialized upgrades like the Icebreaker and Rock Destroyer not only unlock new biomes but also contribute to a higher overall top speed, allowing you to traverse the core map much faster.
Resource Processing Chains
Building Spirit Houses and functional facilities often requires processed materials rather than raw ones. For example, a Guest House doesn't just take raw logs; it requires Maple Logs to be processed into Maple Planks at the Sawmill. Always check the requirements for your next major upgrade before setting sail, so you don't arrive at a shipyard missing a crucial component.
Do minigame events slow down the ship?
Yes. When you sail through a Jellyfish storm or a Dragon encounter, the ship's speed is temporarily altered or halted entirely until the event concludes. If you are in a rush to reach a destination, you may want to path your journey around these environmental hazards.
Can I queue multiple destinations?
You can plot a complex course on the projector map, but the ship will only travel to the final destination along the plotted line. It will not automatically stop at intermediate islands unless you manually intervene or reach a bus stop.
