Blood is Power: The Economy of Slitterhead

In Slitterhead, your health bar is not just a survival metric; it is your ammunition. Every powerful skill consumes Blood (HP), forcing you to balance aggression with vulnerability. This calculator helps you determine the exact limits of your current host body.

💡 The "Possession Loop" Strategy

The key to high-level play is knowing when to discard a host. Don't wait until you have 1 HP. Use this calculator to find your "Burn Phase"—cast your strongest skills 3-4 times, dealing massive damage, and then immediately possess a new civilian to reset your HP pool and cooldowns.

Rarity Scaling

Not all humans are created equal. "Rarities" (indicated by stars or aura) determine stats:

  • 1-2 Star: Fodder. Low HP, weak skills. Use for mobility or quick escapes.
  • 3-4 Star: Combat Capable. Decent HP pools allow for sustained skill usage.
  • 5 Star (Rarities): Boss killers. High HP and unique, devastating Blood Skills. Prioritize keeping these alive.

Blood Recovery

You can recover HP by attacking enemies with standard melee strikes (Blood Absorption). If your Skill Cost is 150 HP but you only recover 10 HP per hit, you need to land 15 basic attacks to pay for one skill. This "Recovery Deficit" is what eventually forces you to switch hosts.

What happens if I cast with low HP? +
You generally cannot cast a skill if it would reduce your HP below 1 (or a specific threshold), effectively locking your offensive capabilities until you heal or switch.
Does switching hosts heal me? +
Switching hosts gives you the FULL HP bar of the new host. The old host remains at their low HP (and may die if left in danger). This is why cycling hosts is the primary way to "heal" in combat.
