About the Collector Role (A Simple Guide)
So, you want to be a Collector in Red Dead Online? Good choice, partner. It's one of the most relaxing and profitable jobs on the frontier. Think of yourself as a treasure hunter, an explorer charting the wild and uncovering its hidden secrets. Your job is to travel across the five states, from the snowy peaks of Ambarino to the sweltering swamps of Lemoyne, searching for all sorts of valuable goodies. You'll be on the hunt for things like rare **Tarot Cards**, shiny **Heirlooms**, valuable **Coins**, and even delicate **Bird Eggs**. Once you find these items, you can sell them to the mysterious traveling saleswoman, Madam Nazar. While you can sell items one by one, the real money comes from finding every item in a complete set. This map is designed to be your trusted companion on that journey. It's a fast, simple, and interactive planner that helps you learn the general areas where treasures can be found, track your progress, and plan your routes for maximum profit and adventure.
Unlike other maps that can be slow and overwhelming with thousands of icons, this tool is built for speed and simplicity. It's not a live, daily map, but rather a **learning tool and a checklist**. The locations here are representative of the "cycles" the game uses—the items will be *somewhere* in these general areas. By using this map, you'll start to memorize the likely spawn regions, making you a faster and more efficient collector in the long run. It's about turning you into an expert who knows the world like the back of their hand, not just someone following a dot on a screen. It's your personal journal, your strategic planner, and your key to becoming the most renowned Collector in the West.
How to Use Your Map
- Filter Your Targets: Use the checklist on the left to show or hide different types of collectibles on the map. Want to focus only on Coins and Heirlooms today? Just uncheck everything else.
- Explore the World: **Click and drag** the map to pan around. Use your **mouse wheel** (or a pinch gesture on your phone) to zoom in and out for a closer look at the terrain.
- Mark Your Finds: When you find a collectible in the game, **click its marker on this map**. The marker will gray out, and the progress bar for that collection will update. It's your personal checklist to keep track of what you've found. Your progress is automatically saved in your browser!
- Plan Your Route: Use the filters to focus on one or two sets at a time and plan an efficient route across the states. The "Reset View" button will always take you back to the full map view.
Tips from a Veteran Collector
- Get the Right Tools for the Job: This is the most important tip! As soon as you can, save up and buy the **Pennington Field Shovel** and the **Refined Binoculars** from Madam Nazar. Many of the most valuable collectibles (like Coins and Arrowheads) are buried underground and are completely impossible to get without these essential tools. They are an investment that will pay for itself a hundred times over.
- **Focus on Full Sets:** Use the "Completed Sets Payout" tracker in the sidebar to see your potential earnings. Prioritizing the completion of a valuable set like Coins over finding scattered individual items is often the fastest way to make money and level up the role.
- Trust Your Senses: As you get close to a collectible, you'll hear a gentle, magical **tinkling sound**. Your controller will also start to vibrate. These are your best clues! When you hear or feel them, activate your Eagle Eye ability and look for the shimmering golden plume that marks the exact spot.
- The World is Your Oyster: Don't forget to loot everyone and everything! You'll often find collectibles on the bodies of fallen enemies or in chests and lockboxes you find while exploring. A true Collector leaves no stone unturned.
