Shows damage dealt by a single shot relative to the target's total pool.
The Ultimate Paladins Damage Guide
Welcome to the most advanced Paladins Damage Calculator. Understanding raw damage is easy, but factoring in Paladins' complex Item Shop mechanics, Headshot multipliers, and Target types is what separates Diamond players from Grandmasters. This tool simulates the exact in-game combat engine to give you precise Time-To-Kill (TTK) and DPS metrics.
How Paladins Damage Mechanics Work
Your actual in-game damage output is rarely the number listed on your Champion's ability screen. It goes through several layers of math:
- Base DPS vs Effective DPS: Base DPS assumes you land every shot without any damage reduction. Effective DPS factors in the enemy's Armor Plating (which reduces incoming weapon damage) and any active multipliers like Headshots (typically 1.5x damage).
- The Item Shop Economy: Armor Plating scales aggressively (8% / 16% / 24%). A target with Level 3 Armor Plating effectively increases their time-to-kill against your weapon by nearly a quarter.
- Target Types Matter: You cannot apply Armor Plating reduction to a Shield or a Deployable. Conversely, Wrecker (30% / 60% / 90% bonus damage) ONLY applies to Shields, and Bulldozer ONLY applies to Deployables (like Barik's turrets or Ying's illusions).
How to Use This Calculator
This SaaS-grade tool operates in real-time. Follow these steps to optimize your loadout strategy:
- Input Base Stats: Enter your Champion's damage per hit and their fire rate (time between shots). For example, Viktor deals 135 damage every 0.1 seconds.
- Toggle Multipliers: If your champion can headshot, toggle it on to see the burst potential. Adjust Wrecker or Bulldozer if you are buying those items in-game.
- Select Your Target: Choose if you are shooting a Champion (Health), a Shield, or a Deployable. Use the Quick Select to load preset HP values, or type a custom HP.
- Apply Enemy Defense: If targeting Health, set the enemy's Armor Plating level. Watch how the TTK and Effective DPS instantly adjust.
- Analyze the Dashboard: The Time To Kill (TTK) is your most important metric. The tool grades your TTK (S to F). A TTK under 1.0s is considered 'S' tier burst.
Tips & Best Practices for Profit Strategy
To win more matches, you need to understand the economy of TTK:
- When to Buy Wrecker: If a Fernando shield has 5500 HP, destroying it with base damage takes forever. Our calculator shows that buying Wrecker 3 (+90% damage) cuts your TTK on shields almost in half. It is a mandatory purchase against heavy Frontlines.
- Armor Plating is Universal: Because Armor Plating reduces all weapon damage by up to 24%, it severely impacts champions with slow fire rates. Check the "Shots to Kill" counter—often, Armor Plating 1 will force an enemy to land an entire extra shot to kill you, which can be the difference between life and death.
- The First Shot is Free: Remember that TTK in Paladins calculation assumes the first shot happens at 0.0 seconds. High burst weapons (like snipers) have incredibly fast TTKs on low-HP targets because the first massive chunk of damage requires zero waiting time.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Buying Wrecker for Inara's Wall: Inara's wall is a Deployable, not a Shield. You must use Bulldozer. Our Target Type selector correctly isolates these math rules so you don't make this mistake.
- Ignoring Fire Rate: High damage numbers look great, but if your Fire Rate is 1.5 seconds, missing a single shot ruins your TTK. High fire-rate champions have more forgiving TTK curves.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How does Armor Plating work in Paladins?
Armor Plating (formerly known as Haven) reduces incoming weapon damage by 8%, 16%, or 24% depending on the item level purchased in the shop. It is the most consistent defensive item in the game.
Does Wrecker apply to health damage?
No. Wrecker only applies its bonus damage multiplier (30%, 60%, 90%) when shooting at Shields, such as Fernando's barrier or Khan's shield. Once the shield breaks, your damage to their health returns to normal.
How is Time-To-Kill (TTK) calculated?
TTK calculates how many seconds it takes to eliminate a target. Since the first bullet hits instantly (at 0 seconds), the formula is: (Hits to Kill - 1) * Time Between Shots. Lower TTK is always better.
