Understanding the OSRS Max Hit Formula
In Old School RuneScape, your "Max Hit" defines the theoretical limit of damage you can inflict in a single game tick. Unlike other RPGs, OSRS uses accurate integer math where every decimal point is floored. This calculator replicates that exact logic, ensuring your planning is pixel-perfect.
How to Increase Your Max Hit
There are three main levers to pull to increase your damage output:
- Strength Bonus: This comes from gear (Bandos, Torva, Amulet of Torture). Generally, +4 Strength Bonus equals +1 Max Hit.
- Prayer Multipliers: Prayers like Piety provide a massive 23% multiplier to your effective level. This is often more valuable than expensive gear upgrades.
- Set Effects: Items like the Slayer Helmet (i) or Void Knight equipment provide multipliers at the very end of the calculation, compounding your existing damage.
Frequently Asked Questions
No. The game only allows one "damage against specific monster" boost to apply. If you wear both, the Salve Amulet (ei) takes priority (20%) over the Slayer Helm (16.67%). However, both of these DO stack with the Void Knight set bonus.
Effective Strength is your invisible strength level used in the damage formula. It calculates your base level, adds potion boosts, multiplies by prayer, and adds style bonuses (like Aggressive). It is the raw number that determines your damage potential before gear bonuses.
