The Ultimate OSRS Max Hit Calculator
Max Hit
Welcome, Scaper! (A Simple Guide to Max Hits)
In the vast world of Gielinor, your "Max Hit" is one of the single most important numbers in combat. It's the highest possible damage you can smack a monster (or another player) for in a single hit, and it's the bedrock of your overall damage per second (DPS). A higher max hit means faster boss kills, more efficient Slayer tasks, and a much more satisfying combat experience. But your max hit isn't just about your Strength level; it's a complex formula that combines your active potion boosts, your prayers, the attack style you're using, and the total Strength bonus from every single piece of gear you're wearing. It's a lot to keep track of!
This calculator is designed to be your most trusted combat advisor, your own personal Wise Old Man for numbers. It takes away all the complicated math and instantly shows you your true max hit. You can use it to theory-craft new gear setups, see if that expensive new amulet is *really* worth the GP, or figure out the best potion-and-prayer combo for your next big boss fight. It's all about empowering you with the knowledge to make smarter decisions, so you can spend less time guessing and more time getting those sweet, sweet loot drops.
How to Use The Calculator
Figuring out your maximum potential is easy:
- Enter Your Base Stats: Input your character's visible Strength level (the one you see in your skills tab) and your total "Melee Strength" bonus from your Worn Equipment screen.
- Select Your Boosts: Use the dropdown menus to choose the potion you've drunk and the prayer you have active.
- Choose Your Style: Select the combat style you'll be fighting with. For max damage, this is almost always "Aggressive."
- Add Special Gear: Check the boxes for any special gear you're using, like a Slayer Helmet while on a slayer task.
The "Max Hit" display on the right will update in real-time with every change you make, giving you an instant and accurate result. Your setup is also saved automatically in your browser!
Tips for a Higher Max Hit
- Strength Bonus is King:** While having a high Strength level is crucial, the biggest gains to your max hit almost always come from increasing your Strength bonus. Upgrading your weapon, amulet, ring, or cape to an item with even a few more points of Strength bonus is often the fastest and most effective way to see a big jump in your damage output.
- The Power of Piety:** The Piety prayer is a game-changer for high-level melee training. It provides a massive 23% boost to your Strength level, which is significantly more than Ultimate Strength (15%). If you have the Prayer level and can afford the prayer potions, using Piety is one of the single largest DPS increases you can get.
- Aggressive is a "Free" Boost:** Always use the "Aggressive" attack style when you want to maximize your melee damage. It provides a hidden, "invisible" +3 boost to your Strength level that is factored into the damage calculation. It's a free max hit! The "Controlled" style provides a +1 boost to all melee stats, making it a decent choice for training everything at once.
- Stacking Gear (The Right Way):** The game prevents you from getting the bonus from a Slayer Helmet and a Salve Amulet at the same time, because you can't wear a helmet and an amulet from two different sets that don't stack. However, you *can* use either of those items with the Void Melee set bonus. This calculator correctly assumes you can only benefit from either the Slayer Helm *or* the Salve Amulet at one time, never both.
