How Hat Multipliers Work
1. Offensive Gear (The Bull Helmet Meta)
The standard attack damage of a weapon is rarely what actually hits the player. The Bull Helmet is the most infamous hat in the game because it applies a flat 1.5x multiplier (+50%) to your raw damage. For example, a Polearm normally deals 45 damage. With the Bull Helmet, it deals 67.5 damage per hit. This means two quick hits will instantly kill a 100 HP player.
2. Defensive Gear (Counters to Burst Damage)
If you see a player charging you with a Bull Helmet, you must instantly swap to defensive gear. The Soldier Helmet reduces incoming damage by 25% (0.75x multiplier), but the ultimate counter is Tank Gear, which reduces damage by 50%. A 67.5 damage Bull Polearm hit is reduced to just 33.75 damage against Tank Gear, completely ruining their "insta-kill" combo.
3. Attack Speed & Sustained DPS
While burst damage gets the kills, DPS (Damage Per Second) is vital for breaking down walls, spikes, and windmills. Daggers deal a low 20 base damage, but they swing every 0.15 seconds. If you pair them with the Samurai Armor (which further boosts attack speed), your sustained DPS skyrockets, allowing you to melt through enemy bases faster than any other weapon.

What is the "Insta-Kill" combo?
The classic insta-kill involves hitting an enemy with a Polearm while wearing the Bull Helmet, then instantly swapping to a Musket or Crossbow and firing before the enemy can eat food. Because both hits land within a fraction of a second, it deals over 100 damage instantly.
Does the Bull Helmet affect ranged weapons?
No, the Bull Helmet's 50% damage multiplier only applies to melee weapons. Ranged weapons like the Bow, Crossbow, and Musket rely on their fixed base damage, making them reliable finishers rather than primary DPS tools.
Why did my hit do less damage than the calculator shows?
If the enemy swapped to a defensive hat (like Soldier or Tank gear) exactly as your hit connected, the server registers the hit against their damage reduction multipliers. High-tier MooMoo.io gameplay involves rapid "Hat Swapping" to maximize damage while minimizing damage taken.
