MR2 Training & Errantry Calc
Optimize your monster's training schedule and success rates.
| Drill | Success % |

To learn a tech, you must meet the specific stat requirement (usually 200, 300, or 400+ in the Errantry's main stat) and fulfill specific breed conditions.
Monster Rancher 2 Training Mechanics
In Monster Rancher 2 (and the DX remaster), raising a champion requires precise management of stats, fatigue, and stress. Every week, you choose between Light Drills (small stat gains, low fatigue) and Hard Drills (large gains, high fatigue). This calculator helps you predict whether your monster will succeed or fail.
💡 The "Cheat" Calculation
The game calculates success probability using a formula that includes the monster's primary stat for that drill, their nature, and current fatigue/stress penalties. If your success rate is below 80%, consider using an item like a Mint Leaf or Nuts Oil to reduce fatigue before drilling.
Drill Success Formula
While the exact internal formula is complex, the community accepted approximation is:
- Base Chance: 50% for Light Drills, 40% for Hard Drills.
- Stat Bonus: roughly +1% for every 10 points in the relevant stat.
- Penalties: Fatigue and Stress drastically reduce success rates. A tired monster will almost always fail.
- Nature: "Good" monsters get bonuses to Intelligence and Skill drills. "Bad" monsters get bonuses to Power and Defense drills.
Errantry Explained
Errantry is a 4-week expedition costing 2000G. It is the primary way to learn new Techniques. Unlike drills, "success" here means learning the move.
- Requirement: You generally need specific stat benchmarks (e.g., 200 Intelligence to learn a basic Smart tech, 400+ for advanced).
- Getting Lost: If your monster has low Life or Intelligence, they may get lost, returning with no tech and reduced lifespan.
