About the Kingshot Building Calculator
The Kingshot Building Calculator is a free, community-driven planning tool designed for players of Kingshot — the popular medieval survival strategy game by Century Games. Whether you're a new governor figuring out your first Town Center upgrade or a seasoned player optimizing late-game pushes, this calculator gives you the precise resource costs, build times, and strategic insight you need to grow your kingdom efficiently.
Unlike spreadsheets or guesswork, this tool uses the game's actual scaling formulas — verified by community data — so every number you see is meaningful and accurate. All calculations happen instantly in your browser, with no ads, no sign-ups, and full offline support once loaded.
How the Calculator Works
Kingshot uses an exponential resource scaling system for building upgrades. Each building type has unique base costs for Food, Wood, Stone, and Gold, and these costs increase at different rates per level. The Town Center, for example, requires heavy investment across all four resources, while specialized production buildings like Farms or Lumber Mills lean toward specific resources.
Our calculator models these curves using community-sourced data points and interpolation. Build times follow a similar exponential pattern, with higher-level upgrades taking significantly longer. The tool automatically sums per-level costs for range upgrades, so you can see both the granular breakdown and the big picture at a glance.
How to Use This Tool
- Single Building Mode: Select a building, enter its current level and your target level, then hit Calculate. You'll see a detailed per-level breakdown of resources and time, plus a totals summary.
- Batch Planner: Queue up multiple building upgrades — for example, upgrading your Farm from 8 to 12 and your Barracks from 5 to 10 — to see the combined resource total. Perfect for planning your next growth phase.
- Resource Check: Enter your current resource stockpile alongside a planned upgrade to see exactly what you still need. Green means surplus, red means deficit — simple and actionable.
Results can be copied to your clipboard, exported as CSV for spreadsheet analysis, or shared via a permalink that saves your selections in the URL.
Tips and Best Practices
- Always upgrade Town Center first. It gates access to new buildings, higher upgrade caps, and better troops. Plan your resources around TC milestones.
- Balance resource production. If Food is your bottleneck, prioritize Farm upgrades before pushing military buildings. The Resource Check tab helps you spot these imbalances.
- Use the Batch Planner before events. Kingshot frequently runs build-speed events. Pre-calculate your total needs so you can queue upgrades efficiently during bonus periods.
- Don't neglect defense. Walls and Watchtowers are cheaper than military buildings but protect your resources from raids. A good defense-to-offense ratio saves you in the long run.
- Warehouse upgrades matter. Increasing your Warehouse level protects more resources from being looted. If you're losing more than you're gathering, that's your signal to upgrade it.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Rushing military buildings too early. Without strong resource production, you'll stall at mid-levels. Focus on economic buildings through levels 8-12 first.
- Ignoring the Academy. Research upgrades compound over time. Early investment in resource and construction speed techs pays dividends throughout the game.
- Over-spending Gold early. Gold is the scarcest resource in Kingshot. Avoid dumping it into low-priority upgrades — save it for Town Center and key military buildings.
- Skipping Alliance participation. Alliance members can reduce your build timers through help requests. This can shave hours or even days off major upgrades.
- Not using a calculator. Guessing whether you have enough resources wastes time. Checking in advance prevents the frustration of starting an upgrade and realizing you're 50K Wood short.
