About This Free GCZ to RVZ Converter

This lightweight, single‑file web tool converts GCZ GameCube / Wii disc images into the modern RVZ format directly in your browser. No server uploads, no waiting queue, no privacy risk. Everything happens locally with JavaScript + WebAssembly compression so your original file never leaves your device. RVZ is preferred by new Dolphin Emulator builds thanks to improved deduplication, block‑level integrity, and flexible compression like Zstandard and LZMA. Our interface gives you clear progress, live logging, optional hashing, selectable block sizes, and cancel / reset controls so you stay in full control. The design is responsive, fast, and keyboard friendly. Use it to shrink library storage, tidy collections, or standardize formats before archival.

How to Use

  1. Drag a .gcz file into the drop zone (or tap / click to browse).
  2. Adjust compression (Zstandard recommended), level, and block size. Smaller blocks improve seeking; bigger blocks compress slightly better.
  3. Optionally enable a hash check for extra integrity assurance (slower for huge images).
  4. Press Convert. Watch the progress bar and real‑time log. You can cancel at any time.
  5. When complete, download your new .rvz file. Keep the log for reference if you want a record of settings and hash values.

Tips & Best Practices

  • Keep it local: Close other heavy apps to free RAM for multi‑gigabyte images.
  • Zstandard level 3–7 strikes a great speed / size balance.
  • Test in Dolphin: After conversion, open the RVZ once to confirm it loads smoothly.
  • Archive hashes: If you use hash verification, store the resulting SHA‑1 or MD5 in a text file next to the image.
  • Legal note: Only convert disc images you own the rights to. This tool does not circumvent protections.
Why Convert GCZ to RVZ?

RVZ improves compression flexibility, reduces wasted space, supports modern chunk hashing, and is actively maintained. GCZ is older and less adaptable. Moving to RVZ can reclaim space while improving load consistency.

Is Conversion 100% Lossless?

Yes. The process is block‑oriented recompression. Content bytes remain identical after decompression. Optional hashes help verify integrity against the extracted data.

Performance & Privacy

All processing is local. Large files can still be CPU and memory intensive; progress bars and cancellation help manage device load.
