Stat Final Growth Avg. Stat Gain

Welcome, Tactician! (A Simple Guide to Growth Rates)

On the battlefields of Fódlan, a well-played strategy is crucial, but the raw power of your units is what truly turns the tide of war. Every time a character levels up, they have a percentage chance to gain a point in each stat—this is their **Growth Rate**. These innate talents are what make each character feel unique. A natural-born speedster like Petra will almost always have a high Speed growth, while a gentle giant like Raphael is blessed with huge HP and Strength growths. This system of random-but-predictable improvement is the heart of Fire Emblem's character progression, making every playthrough a unique story of development.

But the real strategic depth comes from the **Class** system. The class your unit is in also provides its own growth rate bonuses (and sometimes, penalties!). This is where you, the tactician, get to mold your units. Do you put your slow but powerful Brawler in a fast class like a Thief to patch up their weakness? Or do you double down and put them in a class like Grappler to make their incredible Strength even more terrifying? This calculator is your personal war journal, a powerful tool that does all the complex math for you. It lets you see the exact, final growth rates for any character in any class, and even projects how many stat points they are likely to gain over a number of levels. It's the ultimate tool for transforming your raw recruits into an unstoppable army.

How to Use The Calculator

Planning your army's path to greatness is simple:

  1. Select a Character: Use the first dropdown to choose the character you want to plan for. Their unique base growth rates will be loaded automatically.
  2. Choose Their Class: Select the class you envision for them. The calculator will instantly add the class's growth modifiers to the character's base rates.
  3. Set the Level Range: In the "Levels to Gain" box, enter how many levels you want to project their growth over (e.g., from level 10 to 30 would be 20 levels).
  4. See the Projection: The table on the right will instantly update, showing you two crucial numbers: the **Final Growth** percentage for each stat, and the **Avg. Stat Gain**, which is the statistical average number of points that character will gain over the levels you specified.

Tips for a Master Tactician

  • Understanding "Average Gain":** This number is your most important guide, but it's not a guarantee! The Random Number Goddess is a fickle mistress. A character with a 45% Strength growth who levels up 10 times will, *on average*, gain 4.5 points of Strength. They might get blessed and gain 7 points, or they might get horribly unlucky and only gain 2. But over the course of a whole campaign, their stats will tend to drift towards this calculated average.
  • **The Patch or Power-Up Dilemma:** This is the core strategic choice. Using a class to fix a character's weakness (like making a slow character a Pegasus Knight) can create a well-rounded unit. Using a class to enhance a character's strength (making a strong character a Wyvern Lord) can create a hyper-specialized glass cannon. There's no wrong answer, and this tool lets you see the mathematical outcome of both philosophies.
  • **Beware Negative Modifiers:** Some classes, like Armored Knight, have a **-10%** growth modifier in Speed. Be aware that keeping a character in a class like this for too long can permanently stunt that stat's growth, making them an easy target for fast enemies later in the game.
  • **Plan Your Progression:** This tool is perfect for mapping out a unit's entire career. You can see what their growths would look like from levels 1-10 as a Fighter, then from 10-20 as a Brigand, and finally from 20-30 as a Grappler. This helps you make informed decisions about when to take certification exams for new classes to maximize your units' potential at every stage of the game.
