About the Elden Ring AR Calculator
Welcome to the most advanced, lightweight Elden Ring AR Calculator available online. Designed for Tarnished who want to optimize their builds without the clutter, this tool helps you calculate the exact Attack Rating (AR) of any weapon based on your character's stats.
How to Use
- Enter Stats: Input your character's current attributes (Strength, Dexterity, etc.). Don't forget to check "Two-Handing" if you plan to wield the weapon with both hands, as this increases your effective Strength by 50%.
- Select Weapon: Choose a popular preset from the dropdown or use "Custom" mode.
- Input Scaling: If using Custom mode, look at your weapon in-game and select the scaling letters (S, A, B, C, D, E) and the base damage numbers.
- Analyze Results: The tool instantly calculates your Total AR and breaks it down by damage type (Physical, Magic, Fire, etc.).
- Compare: Click "Add to Compare" to save the current setup to a list. You can add multiple variations to see which build yields the highest damage.
Understanding Scaling & Soft Caps
Elden Ring uses a system of "diminishing returns" known as soft caps. This calculator uses an algorithm that mimics these curves to give you an accurate estimate.
- Strength/Dexterity: Good returns up to 20, great up to 55, and decent up to 80.
- Intelligence/Faith: For weapon damage, the major caps are 20, 50, and 80.
- Arcane: For hybrid weapons, caps are generally 20, 50, and 80.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is AR in Elden Ring? +
AR stands for Attack Rating. It represents the raw damage potential of a weapon before enemy defenses are calculated. Higher AR generally means more damage, though split damage types (e.g., Physical + Fire) can sometimes deal less actual damage than pure Physical due to passing through two defense checks.
Does this calculator account for two-handing? +
Yes! When you check the "Two-Handing" box, your Strength stat is multiplied by 1.5x for the calculation, which affects both the ability to wield weapons and the damage scaling.
Is this tool updated for the latest patch? +
Because this tool allows for "Custom Input" of base damage and scaling letters, it remains accurate regardless of patch changes to specific weapon numbers. As long as you input the values you see in-game, the math remains solid.
