About This Tool

This Dota 2 Counter Picker is a powerful, lightweight tool designed to give you a competitive edge. By leveraging real-time data from the OpenDota API, it analyzes hero matchups to provide accurate, data-driven counter-pick suggestions. Unlike other tools, our single-file application is incredibly fast, fully responsive, and easy to embed on any website. We focused on a clean, intuitive design that allows you to quickly select the enemy team's composition and instantly see the heroes that perform best against them. Our goal is to help players of all skill levels make smarter drafting decisions, leading to more victories and a higher MMR. The algorithm considers the collective disadvantage your potential picks impose on the selected enemy lineup, ensuring the suggestions are strategically sound for the entire draft, not just a single lane.

How to Use the Counter Picker

Using the tool is simple and fast. First, identify the heroes the enemy team has picked in your Dota 2 match. Second, find those heroes in the "Choose Enemy Heroes" grid below. You can use the search bar to filter heroes by name. Click on a hero's portrait to add them to the "Enemy Team" lineup at the top. You can add up to five heroes. As you add heroes, the "Counter-Pick Suggestions" area will automatically update with the best heroes to pick against your opponents. The suggestions are sorted by their overall advantage against the selected enemies. To remove a hero from the enemy team, simply click on their portrait in the "Enemy Team" section. The suggestions will update instantly. The tool is designed for quick decisions during the crucial drafting phase of the game.

Drafting Tips

A successful draft is more than just counter-picking; it's about team synergy. While this tool provides statistically strong counters, always consider your team's composition. Ensure your team has a good balance of roles: carries, supports, initiators, and disablers. Communicate with your teammates about the suggestions. A hero you are comfortable and skilled with is often a better choice than a "perfect" counter you have little experience playing. Use these suggestions as a guide, not an absolute rule. Pay attention to the enemy's potential lane setups. If they have a weak offlane, you might pick a strong laning carry to dominate that lane, even if another hero is a slightly better overall counter. Finally, be adaptable. The draft is a dynamic process, and being able to adjust your strategy based on the final picks is the mark of a great player.
