About the Doodle World Damage Calculator

The Doodle World Damage Calculator is a free, precision-built tool designed to help players of Doodle World — the popular Roblox creature-collecting game — calculate exact damage output before entering battle. Whether you are a casual player exploring the island or a competitive battler optimizing your team for PvP, this tool gives you the numbers you need to make every move count.

Unlike generic calculators, this tool is built specifically around the confirmed Doodle World damage formula. It factors in all 20 types, STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus), type effectiveness multipliers, critical hit mechanics, stat stages, weather effects, abilities, held items, status conditions (Burn and Curse), and even spread-move reductions for Doubles battles. Every modifier is applied in the correct order to mirror how the game engine processes damage internally.

How the Damage Formula Works

The core damage calculation in Doodle World follows this structure:

  1. Base damage = ((2 × Level / 5 + 2) × Move Power × Attack / Defense) / 50 + 2
  2. Random roll: The game applies a random multiplier between 1.0x and 1.1x, giving a damage range.
  3. Multiplier stack: STAB (1.5x), type effectiveness (0x, 0.5x, 1x, or 2x per defender type), critical hit (1.5x), abilities, items, weather, and status effects are all multiplied in sequence.

Physical moves use the attacker's Attack stat against the defender's Defense stat. Magical moves use Magic Attack versus Magic Defense. The stat used is modified by stat stages (from -6 to +6), where each positive stage multiplies the stat by (2 + stage) / 2, and each negative stage divides it by (2 + |stage|) / 2. Critical hits bypass negative stages on the attacker and positive stages on the defender.

How to Use This Tool

  1. Set up the Attacker: Choose a Doodle preset or manually enter the attacker's type(s), level, Attack/Magic Attack stat, stat stages, ability, and held item. Toggle Burned or Cursed if applicable.
  2. Set up the Defender: Similarly, choose or configure the defender's type(s), level, Defense/Magic Defense stat, HP, stat stages, ability, and held item.
  3. Configure the Move: Select the move's type, category (Physical or Magical), base power, and number of hits. Toggle STAB, Critical Hit, spread move, and weather as needed. Or pick from move presets.
  4. Read the Results: Damage is calculated instantly. You will see minimum, average, and maximum damage, a visual HP bar, KO information, type effectiveness, and a full multiplier breakdown.
  5. Compare or Share: Use the comparison feature to snapshot two scenarios side by side, or share your calculation via a URL link.

Tips and Best Practices

  • Always check type effectiveness: With 20 types, Doodle World has a complex type chart. Dual-typed defenders can have 4x weaknesses or 0.25x resistances. Use the interactive chart below the calculator.
  • STAB is crucial: A 1.5x multiplier for using a same-type move is one of the biggest readily-available boosts. Always prioritize STAB moves in your moveset.
  • Watch for abilities: Abilities like Hidden Strength (2x damage), Fur Coat (halves physical damage), and type-immunity abilities can completely swing a matchup. Input them to get accurate results.
  • Stat stages matter exponentially: At +6, your stat is 4x its base value. A single Armor Break (+Atk/MAtk/Speed, -Def/MDef) can transform your damage output.
  • Multi-hit moves: Moves like Claw Swipes (2-5 hits at 20 power each) have a different effective power than their listed base. Set the Hits field to the average (3 for 2-5 range) for a realistic estimate.
  • Don't forget Burn and Curse: Burn reduces Physical damage by 25%, Curse reduces Magical damage by 25%. These are easy to overlook but significantly impact output.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Confusing Attack and Magic Attack: Physical moves use Attack/Defense. Magical moves use Magic Attack/Magic Defense. Using the wrong stat pair will give wildly incorrect results.
  • Ignoring dual typing: If a defender has two types, both type matchups apply multiplicatively. A move can be 4x effective (both types weak) or immune if just one type is immune.
  • Not accounting for items: Type Taffys give a 1.2x boost to matching moves, Lethal Ornament gives a flat 1.3x — these add up fast in competitive play.
  • Forgetting the random roll: Damage varies by up to 10% each hit. The calculator shows both min and max so you can plan for the worst case.
  • Overlooking stat stage interactions with crits: Critical hits ignore the attacker's negative stages and the defender's positive stages. This means a burned attacker at -2 Attack who crits uses their base stat, not the reduced one.

Frequently Asked Questions

The formula calculates base damage from the attacker's level, move power, and the ratio of Attack to Defense stats. Then it applies a stack of multipliers: a random roll (1.0x–1.1x), STAB (1.5x if the move matches the attacker's type), type effectiveness (per each of the defender's types), critical hit (1.5x), and additional modifiers from abilities, items, weather, and status conditions.

STAB stands for Same Type Attack Bonus. When a Doodle uses a move that matches one of its own types, the move's damage is multiplied by 1.5x. The Routine ability enhances STAB to 2.0x, while the Harlequin ability gives a 1.25x bonus to moves that do NOT match the user's type.

Doodle World has 20 types: Basic, Fire, Water, Plant, Spark, Beast, Air, Insect, Earth, Mind, Melee, Food, Light, Crystal, Metal, Spirit, Ice, Dark, Poison, and Mythic. Each type has unique offensive and defensive matchups against the other 19 types, creating a complex strategic layer.

A critical hit multiplies damage by 1.5x. Importantly, crits ignore the attacker's negative stat stage changes and the defender's positive stat stage changes. The Marksman ability increases critical damage to 2.25x. The Fortified ability on the defender blocks critical hits entirely.

Yes. If the attacking Doodle is burned, its Physical (melee-category) moves deal only 75% of their normal damage (0.75x multiplier). Similarly, if the attacker is cursed, Magical moves deal 75% damage. This makes status conditions important strategic tools.

Stat stages range from -6 to +6. Each positive stage multiplies the stat by (2 + stage)/2. So +1 = 1.5x, +2 = 2x, up to +6 = 4x. Negative stages work as 2/(2 + |stage|). So -1 = 0.67x, -2 = 0.5x, down to -6 = 0.25x. These dramatically impact battle outcomes and are a core part of competitive strategy.
