Mastering the Economy of Coral Island

Farming in Coral Island is more than just planting seeds and watering them. To generate the millions of gold needed for late-game town upgrades, you must understand the mathematical relationship between Seed Cost, Growth Time, Regrowth Potential, and Artisan Processing.

Single Harvest vs. Multi-Harvest Crops

Not all crops are created equal. A crop like a Turnip grows quickly but must be replanted after every harvest, draining your profits with constant seed costs. A crop like Strawberries or Hot Peppers takes a long time to mature initially, but continues to produce fruit every few days without needing to be replanted. Multi-harvest crops are almost always mathematically superior for long-term seasonal profit.

Harvest Math (28 Day Season):
Single Crop Harvests = 28 ÷ Growth Days
Multi-Crop Harvests = 1 + [(28 - Initial Growth Days) ÷ Regrowth Days]

The Power of Artisan Goods

Selling raw crops is a trap. Once you unlock the Mason Jar and the Keg, you should almost never sell a raw vegetable or fruit again. Processing a crop turns it into Pickles, Jam, Juice, or Wine. This process typically multiplies the base value of the crop by 1.5x to over 2x.

If you use the calculator to toggle "Process all yields," you will see the "Artisan Net Profit" dwarf the Raw Net Profit. While it takes extra time to process these goods, the return on investment is the core engine of wealth in Coral Island.

Do fertilizers affect Artisan Goods?

Yes! Using fertilizer increases the chance of harvesting higher-quality crops (Silver, Gold, Osmium). When you put an Osmium-quality fruit into a Keg, the resulting Wine will also be Osmium-quality, which sells for an astronomical amount of gold.

What happens if I plant late in the season?

Our calculator assumes you plant on Day 1 and utilize the full 28 days. If you plant a crop that takes 10 days to grow on Day 20, it will die on the first day of the next season before it can be harvested, resulting in a total loss of your seed investment.
