About the Civ 7 Adjacency Planner
Welcome to the ultimate Civilization VII Adjacency Planner. With the release of Civ 7, the district system has evolved. Gone are the sprawling specialized districts of Civ 6; in their place are Urban Districts that house multiple buildings directly. This fundamental shift changes how you plan your cities, requiring a new approach to adjacency bonuses.
This tool is designed to help you master the new mechanics. Whether you are playing in the Antiquity, Exploration, or Modern Age, placing your Urban Districts and managing your building slots is key to victory. Use this planner to visualize your city layout, test building combinations, and maximize your Science, Gold, Production, and Faith yields before you commit in-game.
How to Use This Tool
- Select Terrain: Use the sidebar to place Mountains, Navigable Rivers, or Resources on the grid to mimic your in-game map.
- Place Urban Districts: Select the "Urban" tool and click a hex to designate it as a settlement expansion.
- Add Buildings: Click on an Urban District to reveal its two building slots. Choose buildings like Libraries, Markets, or Workshops to fill them.
- Check Yields: The tool automatically calculates potential adjacency bonuses based on the surrounding tiles and buildings.
- Save & Share: Use the "Save/Share" button to generate a code you can keep or send to a friend.
Tips for Civ 7 City Planning
1. Leverage Navigable Rivers: Unlike previous games, rivers now flow through tiles. Buildings like Markets and Harbors often gain significant bonuses when placed on or adjacent to these trade arteries.
2. Overbuilding is Key: Don't be afraid to replace obsolete buildings as you advance through Ages. A Granary might be vital in Antiquity, but a Factory could be better in the Modern Age.
3. Cluster Urban Districts: Many buildings gain bonuses from being adjacent to other Urban Districts. Creating dense city centers can often outperform spread-out rural settlements.
