About the Astroneer Resource Calculator

Welcome to the most comprehensive and user-friendly Astroneer Resource Calculator available online! Whether you're a beginner astroneer or a veteran space explorer, this tool helps you plan your base building, calculate exact resource requirements, and optimize your gameplay experience.

Astroneer is a sandbox adventure game where resource management is crucial for survival and expansion. Our calculator eliminates the guesswork by providing accurate calculations for all crafting recipes, from simple refined resources to complex composite materials like Nanocarbon Alloy.

This tool supports all resource types in Astroneer including natural resources (Compound, Resin, Organic, Clay, Ammonium, Graphite, Quartz, Laterite, Malachite, Sphalerite, Wolframite, Lithium, Hematite, Titanite, Astronium), refined resources (Carbon, Ceramic, Glass, Aluminum, Copper, Zinc, Tungsten, Iron, Titanium), atmospheric resources (Hydrogen, Argon, Methane, Nitrogen, Sulfur, Helium), and composite resources (Rubber, Plastic, Aluminum Alloy, Tungsten Carbide, Graphene, Diamond, Hydrazine, Silicone, Explosive Powder, Steel, Titanium Alloy, Nanocarbon Alloy).

How to Use This Calculator

Using our Astroneer Resource Calculator is simple and intuitive:

  • Simple Calculator: Select the resource type (Refined or Composite), choose your desired item, enter the quantity, and click Calculate. The tool instantly shows all base resources needed.
  • Batch Calculator: Planning a large base? Add multiple items to calculate total resources needed for your entire project. Perfect for expedition planning!
  • Reverse Lookup: Have resources but not sure what to craft? Enter what you have, and discover all possible crafting options.
  • Planet Locations: Each resource shows which planets it can be found on, helping you plan mining expeditions efficiently.
  • Export Options: Save your calculations as CSV files, copy to clipboard, or generate shareable links for your team.

Pro Tips for Resource Management

  • Prioritize Research: Use the Research Chamber to unlock advanced crafting recipes and resource extraction methods early in the game.
  • Set Up Auto Extractors: Auto Extractors yield 15x more resources than manual extraction - essential for late-game builds.
  • Atmospheric Condensers: Place these on planets with high PPU (parts per unit) for faster gas collection. Check our planet location data!
  • Chemistry Lab Efficiency: Some composite resources require atmospheric gases. Plan your base location accordingly or establish outposts.
  • Trade Platform Strategy: Rare resources can be expensive. Use our calculator to determine if gathering or trading is more efficient.
  • Soil Centrifuge: Early game resource bottleneck? The Soil Centrifuge can produce basic resources from soil canisters.

Frequently Asked Questions

What resources do I need to make Nanocarbon Alloy?
Nanocarbon Alloy requires Titanium Alloy and Steel, plus Helium gas. Working backwards: you need Titanium, Graphene (which needs Graphite and Hydrazine), Nitrogen, Iron, Carbon, and Argon. Use our calculator to see the exact quantities!
Where can I find Lithium in Astroneer?
Lithium can be found naturally on Vesania and Novus planets. Look for distinctive pink/purple crystalline deposits. It's required for crafting several advanced items and can also be traded at the Trade Platform.
How do I use the Batch Calculator?
Click the "Batch Calculator" tab, then use "Add Item" to include multiple resources you want to craft. Enter quantities for each, then click "Calculate All" to see the total raw resources needed for your entire build list.
Can I use this calculator offline?
Yes! This calculator is completely client-side and works without an internet connection after the initial page load. Perfect for gaming sessions without stable internet.
What's the difference between refined and composite resources?
Refined resources are created by smelting natural resources in a Smelting Furnace (e.g., Laterite β†’ Aluminum). Composite resources are made in the Chemistry Lab by combining refined/natural resources, often with atmospheric gases (e.g., Iron + Carbon + Argon β†’ Steel).
How accurate is this calculator?
Our calculator is updated for Astroneer version 1.0+ and includes all current crafting recipes. We regularly verify against the official Astroneer Wiki and game data to ensure 100% accuracy.
Can I share my calculations with friends?
Absolutely! Use the "Share Link" button to generate a URL with your current calculation, or export to CSV to share via email or Discord. You can also copy results directly to your clipboard.
